ACTION United Voter Mobilization Campaign
The PA Voter ID Bill will impact the democratic system in most low and moderate income neighborhoods in Philadelphia. There is a real need for community residents to get registered at their current address and learn about the new voter restrictions. ACTION United addresses this need by training neighborhood based Voter Mobilizers to reach out to their neighbors, register them to vote, educate them on the new ID laws, invite them to issue forums, and turn them out to vote on Election Day. Without this community effort, The Voter ID Bill stands to hinder thousands of Pennsylvanians from executing their civil right to engage in our democratic process.
What is a Voter Mobilizer (VM)
Voter mobilizers are activists who are responsible for registering their neighbors, educating them on key issues, connecting them to their local community organization, educating their neighbors on the new voter ID law and turning them out to vote.
Voter Mobilizers will commit to 3 things
- Knocking on every door in their neighborhood to register new voters
- Keeping in regular contact with all voters in their neighborhood
- Educating neighbors on the Voter ID law
Becoming a Voter Mobilizer
Experienced community organizers will teach mobilizers the skills of door-knocking, using and cleaning up a voter list, how to properly fill out a registration card, and the details of the voter ID law in order to insure maximum participation in the November election.
Each Voter Mobilizer will attend one registration training and 2 issue trainings. New Mobilizer trainings are held twice a week (issue trainings will be announced during this time).
